STAFF Joanie Keller-HandJoanie Keller-Hand, Office Manager/Associate Teacher kellerhaj@sou.edu

Joanie has a B.S. in Child and Family Services with an emphasis in Early Childhood Education from the University of New Hampshire and a Master in Management from Southern Oregon University. Joanie is enrolled in the Oregon Child Care Registry through PSU and has worked in the field of Early Childhood Education since 1979. She was the Associate Preschool teacher from 1993-2015. After serving as Interim Director in the fall of 2015, she now servers as Office Manager/Associate Teacher.

 

 

Infants and Toddlers (6 weeks up to 36 months)  

Schneider Children’s Center has an Infant Room (Pink Room) for children ages 6 weeks to one year, a Younger Toddler Room (Green Room) for children ages 1-2 years, and an Older Toddler Room for children ages 2-3 years. The rooms share some play times inside and outside, and are separated by a small shared kitchen and toileting/diaper area. 

STAFF Janese Ikola

Janese Ikola,  Assistant Teacher

Janese began her early childhood career by taking ECE classes at West Valley College in Saratoga, California while also volunteering at the college preschool. Later she attended Cabrillo College in Aptos and was employed by the lab school working with ages 1-5.
Janese earned a teaching certificate in 2000 and then worked at the Santa Cruz Toddler Care Center, as a teacher for ages 1-3 year olds. The school subscribed to the RIE (Resources for Infant Educarers) Philosophy, similar to that at Schneider. Previously, Janese was a head teacher at Roots and Wings in Medford. Janese is a Step 9 level through the Oregon Registry. She has been working at Schneider since Fall 2013.

 

SCC STAFF Susanne 2014Susanne Steele, Associate Teacher

Susanne previously worked at Schneider for 8 years from Fall 2002 to Spring 2011. She worked four years in the Infant and Toddler Rooms and four years in the preschool. She left to work on her Master’s degree then returned as a long term substitute in both rooms since Fall 2012.
Prior to her work at Schneider, Susanne ran a home child care out of her house. Susanne earned her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from SOU, and has completed coursework toward a Master’s in Teaching. Susanne is enrolled in the Oregon Registry as a Step 10.

 

STAFF Kristin Tibbey

Kristin Tibbey, Associate Teacher

Kristin has a B.A. in Social Science from Southern Oregon University.She is a member of  the Southern Oregon Alumni Association. She has been in the field of Early Childhood Education since 1986.Kristin has been teaching at SCC since 2000 and is enrolled in the Oregon Childcare Registry through PSU. 

 

 

Preschool (Ages 36 months up to 60 months)

The preschool classroom at Schneider Children’s Center, the Purple Room, accepts children ages 3 through 5 years old. They occasionally share some outside time with the Older Toddler Classroom

 

STAFF Donna Jones-AndersonDonna Jones, Associate Teacher 

Donna has earned a C.D.A. (Child Development Associate) from Rogue Community College, and is currently working on a Bachelor’s degree in Family Services. Her experience working with children comes from a variety of settings including in-home child care, preschools and volunteer work. She also worked as a family advocate at SCC for four years. Donna has been teaching at SCC since 1994 and is enrolled in the Oregon Childcare Registry through PSU.

 

STAFF Jaimie BernhagenJaimie Bernhagen, Assistant Teacher 

Jaime has a B.A. in English and Creative Writing from the University of California, Davis. Jaimie began working with children (child care, volunteer work, and as a teacher’s aide) in 1992, began teaching at SCC in 1998 and is enrolled in the Oregon Childcare Registry through PSU. Along with her work in early childhood education, Jaimie serves on the Board of Directors as an Executive Administrator for Natives of One Wind Indigenous Alliance, a nonprofit organization focusing on diversity education,youth and elders projects, community outreach and dismantling oppression/racism within marginalized indigenous minorities in Southern Oregon.
